The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up again this year to help several needy families in the community. The Sheriff’s Office wants to help families within the county with their needs at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year was a great success because of all the help we received from local merchants and individuals from our community. At Thanksgiving, we were able to fill everyone a basket that applied with was 6 to families in need in our community. These baskets were filled with turkeys, dressing, rolls, pies, and canned goods.
For Christmas, we helped 145 kids in our county who applied for help from the Sheriff’s Office. Yes, you read that right 145 children/52 families, in our community that we got to purchase gifts for off a list they provided us with, wrapped & placed under their tree at home to fulfill their Christmas day with joy. That is the most children that our office has ever been able to help since doing this program. Thanks to our community, donations & local school staff on the families they helped apply for this program. We decorated our office & were able to have a Mr. and Mrs. Claus meet with the children. They were able to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, take pictures & get punch and cookies. It was a great feeling knowing we were giving presents to children who were more than likely not going to experience the joy of opening presents at Christmas time. Had it not been for the great support we had from everyone in the community we would not have been able to do this.
We are sending letters out this year to everyone who helped by donating last year and asking you not only to help us again this year, but to tell your friends and colleagues about our desire to help even more families. Although due to Covid-19 putting us out the past few years, again, we are able to have our Annual Masonic Lodge Breakfast this year, which also helps tremendously on funding for our program we spend each year for our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas programs for families in need. We are determined to make this year just as positive and helpful as we have over the past two decades!
Your help will be greatly appreciated and we look forward to making this holiday season a great one for those families in Washington County.
Feel free to contact our office with any questions you may have or if you need us to come by and pick up your
Donation.
